In the POS system, validators have the right to block their shares based on the age of the coin. The age of a coin is determined by how many days it is worth, multiplied by the amount of coins at stake. If the endorsement share is idle for 30 days or more, they can be selected to create the next block. The bigger and more useless they are, the better the chances of getting verified (vs. PoW system, where your hash power is the deciding factor). Once a stake is created, the age of the coin is again set to 0 (and the other block must wait 30 days for the counterfeiting opportunity to occur. The age limit of the coin is 90 days so that Help level the playing field for other certifiers.
